Ask me anything, awesome location… and stuff

Sooo just for fun, Kara and I are both going to answer your questions! You need to check Kara’s blog to ask her something, and you can ask me whatever you’d like right here. Or, you can always email me if you want to do it that way I guess… We’ll be posting answers on The Embrace Workshop blog in a few days time.
Sooo…what can you ask me? Well.. whatever you’d like! It can be about photography (duh), kids (duh), stuff about knitting, what I like to eat for breakfast, how I take my coffee… er… you get the picture. So ask away, and remember to check back on the Embrace Workshop blog in a few days time for the answers.
IN the meantime, here’s a of photos of Maddy from a week or so ago. She is about to start year 2. I can’t believe it! Jakob starts year 5. And…Isaiah is about to go into kindergarten! I AM SO NOT READY for my baby to be that grown up! Lucky I have Lilly and Zoe at home with me still… I might not know what to do with all my “free time” otherwise ![]()

And check THIS out. My brother and his fiancee (soon to be wife in under 2 weeks time!!! WOOHOO) just bought their first house. We headed over a couple of days ago to check it out. Umm.. can I just say that although I am terribly excited for my brother that he has a house… what I saw NEXT DOOR made me so giddy I think I hyperventilated with excitement a little bit….
It was a crap time of day for light, but I wanted to take some shots so I could remember what I wanted and work on ideas and stuff once I got home.

I have a bunch more photographs (just ask Gemma… who I emailed IMMEDIATELY afterwards to brag…muahaha) but I think I’ll save those for my own self.. I already have many plans for this
I’m sure you guys know that it is RIGHT up my alley, so very very “me”. Weirdest thing? I knew about this place when I was growing up, because it’s only a very very short walk from my parents house… I’d just never thought of checking it out photographically before. So weird how things can be like that.
ANYHOW, ask me stuff!!
You know you want to.

Easy, I have a question! Will you ever teach a workshop in Melbourne. If so I will camp overnight if I must *lol*!! Also can you see yourself being a photographer for a long time, or is there other avenues you would like to pursue (I know you are already a super talented knitter!)? I ask this as I am going through a stage where I feel there is so much I want to do and can’t seem to settle on one thing.
I love this photo of Maddy too. I have one in year 4, one in year 2, one in year one and Lola is 3 so luckily at home. I can’t believe it. I always think of myself as a Mum of ‘little children’ and now I have one who will be 10 in a month!
xoxoMelissa
OH wow, I think I recognise that place too. I’m trying to remember the name of it but I think I went there for my birthday one year.
The location is awesome… The place from first picture + Madison or Lilly would make PERFECT combination, wow.
Psycho-fan question-mode!
What do you eat for breakfast? ;D
Where do you shop/could advise to shop for knitting thingies in Sydney/internet?
Is there a chance for photoshoot (or just few portraits!) with you as a model again?
Silly question - what has happened to your lip ring, you just changed your style and decided to take it off, or it made problem to clients/other people?
Are you planning more children in the future? :D:D
Greetings.
Ah, another one I forgot - will you make more ps actions available at your store?
wow - that is a magical location! What was it used for? I always want to know, how you “do” your day with 5 kids and the job. Do you have a proper schedule? I don’t seem to ever be finished with anything…and am also rubbish at sticking to a plan even if I’d have one
And what is your favourite lens/aperture for kid shoots?
OMG, what a fabulous place!!!!!It is crazy how time flies and kids are getting big (not to mention that we are getting older:(!!!)
That location is gorgeous, very you.
Just wondering how did you know when to take the leap from hobby to pro?
You emailed me to brag? I thought you were warning me that I might not make it away from that location
However I think I might die more at how grown up your kids are… Maddy looks just STUNNING here, watch out guys, she’s just going to get more and more beautiful…
Do you have any “go-to” settings when you do portraits? Do you shoot in RAW and what do you use to convert those files to jpeg? What do you do to get babies’ attention? What are your favorite actions of yours to use? What is your favorite lens to use? What is your favorite time of day to shoot? How do you get babies to STTN? LOL sorry I figure I might as well just get it all out now!
Okay, I’ll play the questions game!
Where in the world would you live if not where you are now? Will you have more kids? If you could be famous for something (other than photography or knitting), what would it be? What do you think your kids will do when they are grown up? How did you and Matt meet? What’s the hardest part about being a career photographer?
You are awesome. Can’t wait to meet you in April!
Yay! I finally get to ask a question! Ok, where did you get the wooden kanu looking prop Zoe is sitting on? What are they called? I Live in California and The only places I’ve seen them are at Antique shops that cost wayyyy.. too much $$$.Any advice as to where I can find one a little cheaper?
[...] forget to check out the blog post below, to ask me whatever question you’d [...]
Are you finally kidded out now? Or are you hankering for another little’un? *makes serious face* I did worry a bit when you announced you were expecting Zoe, that you’d either go pop or go stir crazy trying to manage your little tribe.
My question is, how do you get such great backlit shots? Any tips? I just can’t seem to get the hang of it, my subject always looks too dark and the background too light. I’m sure you can do it with manual settings, right?
yeah i wanna know about the kids too! if you want to have more lol…. and i would love to know where i can buy your knitting book
I’d love to know a bit more about you and your great family. Are you looking forward to your new life in Tamworth? Do you think you’ll finally get your license this year? Is a new car on the agenda for 2010?
I know this has been asked but I’ve always wanted to know how you accomplish so much with so many kids.. I only have two & find it hard to get anything done! Does your husband help a lot? Do you have a strict schedule? How many photo shoots do you do a month? I’m just starting my photography business & I’m finding it hard to even find time to do editing.
I’m wondering how much sleep you typically get? You are the most productive person I know so I’m thinking you must do ok with little sleep? I don’t know how you do it:)
Any tips for taking fab self portraits?
